Havre de Grace

Havre de Grace is the 2nd oldest municipality behind Annapolis as it was founded in 1782. General Marquis de Lafayette who was in the American Revolution loved the view of the Bay from the Susquehanna River, and exclaimed "C'est Le Havre!" - meaning that it reminded him of the French port town Le Havre.

What To Do

Bahoukas Antique Mall & Beer MuZeum

This quirky place has some true antiques, and other items that us 30-year-olds would call nostalgic. It is a fun place to go to remember the good times! The first floor is the Antique Mall, and second floor is the Beer MuZeum.

Concord Point Lighthouse & Havre de Grace Walking Pier

The Concord Point Lighthouse was built in 1827 and is the 2nd oldest lighthouse in Maryland. Now there is a beautiful walking pier along the water that you can take to the Decoy Museum (next on this list).

Havre de Grace Decoy Museum

I hadn't a clue what a decoy was, but apparently it is a huge deal in the DelMarVa area around the Chesapeake Bay region. A decoy is a wooden duck or goose used to lure waterfowl for hunting purposes. Havre de Grace is the "Decoy Capital of the World." This museum was brilliant for education and showcased the beauty of creating a decoy. $6 entry fee was well-worth it!

Where To Eat

We ate at the Tidewater Grill, located on the water in Havre de Grace. The food was great as well as the service! Other places we wanted to go but didn't have time were: Mount Felix Vineyard and Winery and The Vineyard Wine Bar.
