Susquehanna Ridge Trail
Amelia and I started our northern MD adventure at the Rock Run Mill/Toll house parking lot midway through the Susquehanna Ridge Trail (near the purple trail). We took that red trail north and then continued clockwise to Deer Creek Trail, Heritage Greenway Trail, then the rails to trails along the water back to our parking lot (see map below). It was approximately 5-6 miles long and took us ~3 hours. The beginning of the red trail we had to hop rocks across a creek, then it was steep, but we took our time and were fine - I would give that part of the trail a moderate difficulty. The rest of the trail was easy. *Be sure to follow along the street/near the purple trail to get to the red trail - it was hard to spot but make sure you look closely into the trees and you will find the opening that has that sign (see below).
Conowingo Dam
Extra exploring option: if you enjoy spotting bald eagles, check out Conowingo Dam, about a 10 minute drive north of Susquehanna State Park.
