Sanur

One of Amanda’s (one of my high school besties who lived here) other favorite places on the main island is Sanur. I only was here for one night as a way to get back on the main island and be closer to the airport to fly home. Since it was raining while I was there, I only got to experience the food and my nice hotel! However, the food is one of the best parts about Sanur; since it’s closer to the big city of Denpasar, the restaurants are really good here and are worth mentioning.

Where to Eat

Ganesha

This Indian restaurant was recommended to me by my driver and agreed by Amanda! The butter chicken and the very fresh rice were so yummy that they practically melted in my mouth.

Massimo

This Italian gelato place is very popular - and for a reason! I believe they became instagram famous but that might be one of the best gelatos I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to Italy! I ordered the gianduia not knowing what it was but knowing that it looked like satin and chocolate. It ended up being a chocolate hazelnut melt-in-my-mouth delight!

Where to Stay

Sagara Villas & Suites

An affordable resort, I had my own private villa to myself with a private pool and private outdoor living area complete with a kitchen, big screen TV, and couches. It was more than enough but a very fun thing to do!

Hyatt Regency Bali

A still affordable place to stay (in U.S. dollars), this hotel is top notch. I’d recommend staying here if you aren’t trying to pinch your pennies!
