Los Angeles
All of my L.A. experiences are due to experiencing filming on Wheel of Fortune twice! Check out my experience here. LA. is a massive city between mountains to the east and the west coast.
What To Do
Day Tour of L.A.
If this is your first time in L.A., I highly recommend doing a day tour. If you are staying at a hotel, they may have some options for you to get you started. This tour showed us places we might want to explore more, and it checked a bunch of items on our bucket list.
The Grove
The Grove is a fun area of the city that is close to the town of Hollywood. It is full of shopping, and has a movie theater, places to eat and explore. It also has a historic Farmers Market that is worth checking out.
Santa Monica Pier
This iconic pier is a must-see, especially at sunset.
Griffith Observatory
The view from the Griffith Observatory is spectacular and I highly recommend visiting this museum. Several movies have taken place here, including La La Land, The Rocketeer, and Yes Man!
Venice Beach
A great place to go during the day to relax, hang out, and walk around.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
We wanted to watch a show being filmed, and went with Jimmy Kimmel because it fit our open time slots, and we enjoyed his humor! Be sure to check the website as you will have to fill out a form in order to book your tickets.
Hollywood and the Walk of Fame
No matter what, you must see a few blocks of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. There are many of them chunked together in front of TCL Chinese Theater.
Malibu Pier
The Malibu Pier has many attractions for a quick pit stop, including the highly recommended Malibu Farm Restaurant.
The Getty Museum
There are parts of this museum that make you feel like you are in Pompeii, Italy. The architecture of this once-home is spot-on accurate to what it feels like to be in Italy.
Disneyland
About an hour away from downtown L.A. is Disneyland in Anaheim. It is a smaller version of Disney World, but it has some old rides that they don’t have. I always recommend getting there as soon as the gates open to beat the crowds and to make the most out of your time here.
Where To Eat
Musso & Frank
Musso & Frank is a historic fine dining restaurant in Hollywood along the Walk of Fame.
Pink's Hot Dogs
Another iconic place to eat is at this hot dog shop right in Hollywood. There are so many different variations of condiments that you can put on a hot dog which is what makes this place unique.
Lamplight Lounge
In Disneyland, going to the Lamplight Lounge is a must-do as it has a great view and really great food and drinks!
Malibu Farm Restaurant & Cafe
This restaurant really made a mark on me; I recently purchased their book of recipes and I still cannot get enough of their apple blossom candle. The food, scenery, and their items that you can purchase are all of high quality.
