Bend, Oregon
Bend, Oregon is an up-and-coming small town with a fun main street, along the Deschutes River. It is also in close proximity to several famous outdoor adventuring spots: Crater Lake National Park (2 hours away), about 30 minutes from Mt. Bachelor ski resort, and 30 minutes from hiking trails at the Three Sisters, which are mountains a part of the Cascade Range. I came here for my second long-distance road trip with my friend Mander. To us, Bend felt like a quaint town on a river, for an easy weekend escape from Portland.
What to Do
Drake Park & NW Wall Street
We enjoyed walking along this park at sunset. It is near the main street in Bend, NW Wall Street. I recommend coming here during the day when all the cute shops are open!
River tubing
Lazy river tubing is probably the most popular activity in Bend, Oregon. Our road trip did not allot the time to do this but it sounds relaxing and fun!
Where to Eat
Wild Rose
Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had is here at Wild Rose. It is ALWAYS packed. We went during a weeknight and couldn’t get a table! Instead we ordered to go and enjoyed every single bite in our hotel. So, be sure to make reservations at least a few days in advance. This was a recommendation from a friend who lives in Bend! We ordered the Khao Soi Curry, and the Sweet Sausage Fried Rice. Both were great but it’s been one month and I’m still drooling over the phenomenal yellow curry dish!
Looney Bean of Bend
Come here if you want to experience a cute coffee shop with a clever name on the Deschutes River!
Bend, Oregon was a part of my road trip to my second therapy placement with my friend, Mander! Before Bend, we went to Multnomah Falls, and after we went to Crater Lake National Park.
