MD Adventures

Cambridge, MD

I am so lucky to have best friends help me explore places on the Eastern Shore to enhance my blog! It is easy to do a one or two day adventure in Cambridge. Day one entails the Hyatt Resort in Cambridge, RaR Brewery, and Great Marsh Park. Day two: Rise Up Coffee, Emily’s Produce, Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor’s Center, and Layton’s Chance Winery.

Day One

Hyatt Resort

I always have heard the marvel of the Hyatt Resort. The long driveway gives you the feel of a very grand entrance. We had a beautiful and relaxing walk around the resort. In the summer, you can pay $10 for use of the pool, hot tub, and bar. There’s also a spa and a golf course, all with the Choptank River at your fingertips. You really feel like you are on vacation this close to home.

RAR Brewing

RaR Brewing is in downtown Cambridge on the main street. They have great beer and as Kirstie says, you really can’t go wrong with their food.

Great Marsh Park

We took our food from RaR to have a picnic at Great Marsh Park. They have multiple fun playgrounds for kids, and a great view of the Choptank River all around the park.

Day two

Rise Up Coffee

We love coming to Rise Up for coffee in Easton, which is connected with Mad Eggs for a delicious take-out breakfast.

Emily’s Produce

We came here for a fun pit stop. I got a pumpkin and local beer!

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor’s Center

This new national historic park honors an amazing woman who sacrificed so much for others. This free park helps you discover where she came from, how she sacrificed, and who she helped. There are videos, sculptures and many other parts of the exhibit that showcase Harriet Tubman. The visitor’s center probably takes about 20-30 minutes, but then you can drive through the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge to Layton’s Chance Winery. On the drive you can stop at places where Harriet had been.

Layton’s Chance

Layton’s Chance Vineyard and Winery for our “date night!” Our favorite drink this time was the Turbo Pink and their seasonal wine. We enjoyed a gorgeous sunset at the vineyard.
